Janome HD1000

Mechanical sewing machines may remind you of something that’s outdated and traditionally what you might imagine your grandmother to use. However, mechanical sewing machines have come a long way and this Janome HD1000 proves it.

Mechanical sewing machines appeal to a lot of people as they’re a very simple and basic sewing machine. There are no crazy computerized features that can get complicated and instead it’s just a traditional, simple to use and dependable machine.

Features

Mechanical sewing machines are so popular because of their heavy-duty and dependable structure. This Janome machine body is made from cast aluminum and is extremely powerful. It delivers great stitches with a straightforward and reliable stitching process. This makes the Janome HD1000 excellent for beginner sewers.

It doesn’t feature any computerized graphics so selecting switches and sewing direction is done the old-fashioned way with a knob and a lever. There are 14 stitches to choose from, four-step buttonhole system, four presser feet, three-piece feed dog system, and an automatic needle threader. All these features allow you to get that traditional sewing machine vibe, but with a few added bells and whistles.

Our Opinion

If you’re not looking for anything too fancy or complicated, this sewing machine is perfect. That being said, just because it’s a basic sewing machine doesn’t mean it’s inexpensive. It’s actually quite pricey. It’s a very powerful machine so although it doesn’t have a computerized system or 900 stitching choices to choose from, it delivers very outstanding results in a simple fashion. We recommend this machine for sewers that are either wanting to learn how to use a sewing machine or for experienced sewers who know that they won’t outgrow it due to the rather hefty price tag.
